Abermals verstösst der Basler Regierungsrat gegen die Prinzipien der Menschenrechte und von der Schweiz unterzeichnete Konventionen. Am Mittwoch, dem 12. August 2026, hiess er den neu ernannten Botschafter Israels in der Schweiz willkommen. Offensichtlich haben Schweizer Politiker:innen auch nach über zwei Jahren Genozid und andauernder Menschenrechtsverstösse in Gaza und Palästina kein Rückgrat, ihre eigenen Prinzipien zu respektieren. Wir verurteilen diese beschämende Einladung und Begrüssung des israelischen Botschafters.
Als Partei, die sich Gerechtigkeit und Befreiung verschrieben hat, erachten wir Boykott, Desinvestition und Sanktionen gegen Israel als notwendig. Wir wollen, dass die kantonalen Regierungsräte und der Bundesrat das umsetzen und sie somit endlich anfangen, nach der Völkermord-Konvention zu handeln, die die Schweiz selbst unterzeichnet hat.

Again, the government of Basel-Stadt is acting against the basics of human rights and against the conventions signed by Switzerland. On Wednesday, the 12th of August 2026, the government of Basel-Stadt welcomed the newly appointed Israeli ambassador to Switzerland. After more than two years of continuous genocide in Gaza committed by Israel and the dehumanization of Palestinians, Swiss politicians still haven’t grown a backbone to respect their own principles. We condemn this shameful and gutting invitation and welcoming.
As a party committed to justice and liberation, the first step towards achieving it is by boycotting, disinvesting and sanctioning Israel. We want the cantonal governments and the national government to do so and to start respecting the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide that Switzerland is a signee of.
